2008 - Pinot Noir

Estate Grown

Nose: Mulberry and blood plums with hints of earthiness and balanced smoky oak.

Palette: Black cherries, fine grained tannins and lingering spice finish.

Colour: Ruby glass and purple hues, excellent intensity.

Food: Seared salmon, rich casseroles, duck , lamb, and all game dishes.

Cellar: Though presenting well upon release this wine will continue to develop over 8 to 10 year, true to the Eastern Peake vineyard's tradition of being very long lived.

Process: Hand picked, Destemmed and each block transferred to separate open fermenters. After 2 to 3 days cold maceration seeded with cultured yeast.

Once fermentation had started each vat was regularly plunged. Fermentation temperatures reached between 22 and 30 degrees depending on vat.

A Malo-latic culture was added to each ferment which was completed in oak.

The wine was pressed into French Bariques after being left on skins from 3 to 9 days. The wine spent twelve to 15 months in barrel on gross lees.

2008 - Chardonnay

Nose: Yeasty and butterscotch notes with, flint and citrus enhanced by subtle savoury oak.

Palette: Lime and lemon aromas over oatmeal. The finish is dry and lingering.

Colour: Vibrant Straw Yellow with lime edges.

Food: Crustaceans, white fleshed fish, roast chicken

Cellar: The balance of fruit to acid of this wine will allow it to cellar for up to 6-8 years, with optimum drinking around 2007.

Process: Hand picked, Destemmed and each clone pressed to oak Hogs Heads Seeded with cultured yeast and barrel fermented on older French Oak Hogsheads.

Partial Malo-latic fermentation was induced at 4 Baume. The wine spent ten months in barrel on gross lees

2008 - Chardonnay

Medium straw with deep vibrant green hues with a ripe fresh tropical fruit aroma with subtle hints of oak. Delicate, aromatic and harmonious offering ripe peach and melon flavours, a richly textured creaminess and a fresh acid finish. Ready for enjoyment now.

2008 - Cabernet Merlot

Medium brick red colour with a minty spice and dark chocolate with subtle plums. Medium bodied with delicate plum berry fruit flavours and a well rounded structure. Ready for enjoyment now.

2008 - Shiraz

A rich, well-rounded red wine that is smooth, complex and very long in flavour. The nose offers a complex and generous bouquet of fruit and spice, plums, mulberry, licorice, ripe forest berries and a hint of gaminess. The palate is the highlight of the wine, exhibiting the rich and vibrant varietal berry-fruit flavours which are soft and easy to drink. This wine is well suited to cheeses, Italian cuisine, red meats and even some spicy Asian dishes or can be sipped on its’ own.

2008 - Cabernet Sauvignon

A rich and complex wine with layers of flavour and soft, fine, well-structured tannins. The wine shows a brick red colour with a rich and complex nose prominent in blackcurrant, tobacco and typical characters with hints of game. There are hints of cassis flavours, cigar box and cedar all combined with a lingering gamey note. It currently makes a superb accompaniment to red meats, game birds and hard chesses. Try it with hearty stews and casseroles.

2008 - Sauvignon Blanc

A very pale straw colour with a fresh mineral green tint. The nose shows notes of cut grass and pine needles with a subtle tropical and citrus blossom character. An elegant wine showing intensity and a concentration on the palate. Flavours include lychee, cut grass and asparagus with a balanced citrus lift, guava and rock melon. Bright primary characters and balanced cleansing acidity make drinking this wine a rewarding experience novice palate and connoisseur alike. This wine will pair well with a range of fresh seafood and chicken dishes that rely on simple combinations of fresh flavours to produce mouth watering results.

2008 - Rosé

A good way to describe this wine is 'sweet and sour'. It has a high level of natural sweetness which is then balanced by acidity. This Rosé is a very versatile wine that can be enjoyed at any time of the year with a wide variety of food. Is a perfect accompaniment for spicy asian food and is best served chilled. Does not benefit from extended cellaring, should be enjoyed while young.

2008 - Moscato

Grown Off-Site

An Italian classic. Moscato is sweet with definite grapey flavors and low alcohol levels. The grape is sourced from the Swall Hill wine region. Does not need cellaring. Best drunk young.

Pale gold, floral and grapey nose,on the plate, silky smooth sweetness of ripe grapes, with long flavoured finish.
